To keep growing as a newborn and maternity photographer, submitting images to competitions is quite a big thing. There are many photographers’ associations that offer monthly competitions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several categories cover all aspects of photography, and you are allowed to enter 1 image per category per month.  The judges who review the images are some of the most esteemed Fellow, Master and Grand Master photographers in the UK and across the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This month I sent a couple of images to National Photographic Society<\/mark><\/span><\/a> and I was thrilled when I got a gold award for the category Pregnancy and Babies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I also received a highly commended award for another image from the same session!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I told my client that her image won an award she was very excited and felt like a model \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I don’t enter my images into competitions every month. Even if I know it helps in learning more and growing,  sometimes I forget, and sometimes I feel I don’t have images strong enough or good enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But I do deliver images to my clients every month. The feedback from my clients is even more important than an award to me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Receiving a text the day after the session to say “Thanks so much for the session, it was great fun” makes my work feel appreciated. I know these are small things, but for me, as a working mum and a small business is huge!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have to admit that the ability to say that I’m a London award-winning maternity photographer is pretty awesome and makes me feel quite proud of my work!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
