There comes a moment, sometimes in the middle of folding laundry or staring at the mirror, when you pause and wonder\u2026 Where’s the woman I used to be?<\/em> Where did she go?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you’ve ever found yourself asking this question, you’re not alone. It’s one of the most common feelings I hear from women who walk into my studio for an empowering photography session, carrying invisible weights and wondering when they stopped recognising themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Woman You Used to Be<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Remember her? The one who had passions that set her soul on fire and hobbies that made hours disappear like minutes. Who danced barefoot in the kitchen just because a favourite song came on the radio. Who laughed louder, rested more, and dreamed so much bigger than the box life seems to have put her in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She was fearless in ways that feel foreign now. She took risks, spoke her mind, and didn’t apologise for taking up space in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But over time, something shifted. You poured so much of yourself into others: held families together, juggled multiple jobs, wiped away tears, carried emotional loads that weren’t always yours to bear. You became the glue that kept everything from falling apart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But in all that giving, all that holding together, all that carrying… who’s been holding you<\/em>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Subtle Loss of Self<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n

This isn’t about dramatic life changes or major trauma (though those can certainly contribute). Sometimes it’s the slow, steady erosion of self that happens when you’re busy being everything to everyone else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s the gradual silencing of your own voice in favour of keeping peace. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s postponing your dreams until \u201csomeday.\u201d
It\u2019s saying \u201cI\u2019m fine\u201d when you\u2019re not.
It\u2019s looking in the mirror and not recognising the woman staring back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You might catch glimpses of her, your former self, in old photos or when a certain song plays. There’s a pang of recognition mixed with grief. Where did she go? And more importantly, can she come back?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She’s Not Lost, Just Waiting to Be Seen<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Here’s what I’ve learned through years of photographing women who felt invisible: she’s not gone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

She’s been waiting patiently underneath all the roles and responsibilities you’ve accumulated. She’s in the way you still hum while cooking, in the split second before you catch yourself dancing, in the dreams you haven’t quite let go of completely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The woman you used to be isn’t lost. She’s simply been living in the shadows, waiting for permission to step back into the light.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It Creates Space<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

An empowering photography session is about creating a space that’s entirely yours. No one else’s needs to consider, no one else’s schedule to accommodate. For a few hours, it’s just about you, your comfort, your expression, your story. Just space to feel, to breathe, to reconnect. It\u2019s not indulgent, it\u2019s essential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
